A powerful high-pressure system stretches from the Atlantic to Central Europe, and this is unlikely to change much until the end of the month. Until Friday, we will continue to experience a brisk, and at times strong, north-westerly wind. This wind is strongest in the mountains, but in some areas it will continue to reach into the valleys. Essentially, the wind continues to bring very dry air our way, so it will remain very sunny. Only rarely will a few extensive, high cloud fields break up the sunshine, as was the case on Thursday, for example. Meanwhile, the weather models no longer show any sign of the cold front that had most recently been forecast for Thursday. With the wind, it will remain slightly cooler than recently until Friday, so temperatures are certainly in keeping with the season. This coming weekend and beyond, it will then become significantly warmer again. With glorious sunshine, that late-summer feeling will return.
