weather forecast
On Saturday night, a powerful low-pressure system over Northern Europe takes command of the weather situation with a warm front. As a result, the snow line will rise to about 1500m above sea level by Sunday morning. However, a strong cold front quickly follows on Sunday morning, causing the snow line to drop to low valley levels during the course of the day. The snowfall will be particularly heavy in regions affected by the western orographic lift. An isolated winter thunderstorm cannot be ruled out. Behind the cold front, as we move towards Monday, we enter a damp and cold, partly stormy northwestern orographic lift situation. Now it snows persistently and heavily, especially in the regions affected by northwestern orographic lift. This deep wintry weather pattern continues unchanged until Tuesday morning. Only during the course of Tuesday does a thorough calming down seem likely. The wintry cold remains unchanged for the time being, with white Christmas guaranteed everywhere. However, this will change again on Christmas Day. A weak warm front brings heavy cloud cover and light precipitation. It will also become generally milder, and the snow line will gradually retreat from the low valley areas. On Thursday, we will be dealing with persistent high fog accompanied by strong easterly winds. However, sunshine can be expected on the higher mountains.
