weather forecast
A pronounced low-pressure system lies over Western Europe, which also marks a boundary between air masses. To the west of our region, cool Atlantic air prevails, while over the Alps, mild Mediterranean air is transported far to the north by a southerly flow. In addition, another low-pressure area is developing over the Gulf of Genoa, which will bring severe rainfall to parts of the southern Alps. As a result, a strong föhn-like southerly flow will continue to dominate the weather on Thursday. This will cause moist air masses to accumulate along the main Alpine ridge, while areas to the north will remain dry for a longer period due to the föhn effect. During Thursday afternoon, brief but intense showers may move from the south towards the northern edge of the Alps. However, by Friday, slightly föhn-influenced conditions will quickly return, and generally dry weather with only slightly changeable conditions is expected to persist through Sunday. Only at the beginning of the new week is a slight increase in low-pressure activity likely everywhere.
